From a garden, a café grew

Kiwi Café began in the most natural way — quite literally, from a garden.

Before there was a café, there was a succulent nursery. Over the years, people would visit the property to browse and buy succulents, often asking where they could find a restroom or purchase something to drink. What started as a simple need slowly planted the seed for something more.

And so, Kiwi Café was born.

The name Kiwi has a story of its own. It comes from the Kiwi succulent, one of our grandmother's favourite plants. In her words, "It's so pretty, colourful and gardenish" — and somehow, that perfectly captures what Kiwi has grown to become.

What began as a small addition to the nursery has blossomed into a garden café where good food, nature and people come together. The succulents and greenery that started it all remain an important part of who we are, creating a space that feels peaceful, welcoming and full of life.

Tucked away in the heart of Lusaka, Kiwi is our little escape from the city — a place to slow down, share a meal, celebrate, catch up over coffee or simply enjoy being surrounded by nature.

Through all the ways Kiwi continues to grow, we hope it never loses the charm of where it began: a love for plants, a beautiful garden, and one very special succulent.
